About Government Media Verification System
An e-Governance initiative for secure, transparent, and streamlined media credentialing for authorized journalists and news agencies.
Overview
Operating as an authorized Self-Regulatory Body (SRB) under the guidelines of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), NMC Press Media Council is a national platform bringing the Indian media world under one roof. Our main objective is to provide a legal, transparent, and secure framework for print media, broadcast media (TV channels), and the rapidly growing digital media. We are committed to maintaining the dignity of journalism, the fourth pillar of democracy, and protecting the interests of journalists.
Our Mission
Legal Registration of Digital Media
Until now, there was no specific framework for digital news portals and web channels. As an autonomous SRB, NMC Press Media Council provides a legal 'Registration Certificate' to digital media companies, enabling them to gain recognition as official media houses at the national level and avail government benefits.
One Nation, One Media Card" System
For the safety and respect of reporters and journalists across the country, we are working on the principle of 'One Nation, One Identity'. The standardized National ID Card issued by NMC proves the authenticity of the journalist and provides them with legal protection during field reporting.
Protecting Dignity of Journalism (Eradicating Fake News)
Today, in the era of social media, the menace of fake news, bogus journalists, and blackmailing in their name has increased. Our goal is to bring strict control over these illegal activities. By recognizing only genuine and verified journalists, we aim to eradicate 'Yellow Journalism'.
Who Can Join Us?
